Michael has exhibited work in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He was also shortlisted for the Garrick-Milne Prize for theatrical portraiture for his portrait of Ray Cooney in Rehearsal which was shown at Christie's and which is now in Ray's collection.

In London he has shown at the Mall Galleries for the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, twice for the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the New Grafton and several times at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery.

Michael tries to capture a sense of place and light in his works. He is influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, Burne-Jones, Waterhouse, Sargent and the schools of Staithes and Newlyn and current painters Ken Howard, Peter Brown, David Curtis and Richard Schmidt.
