SHAKESPEARE’S GLOBE

He is currently in his 22nd year as a Globe Education practitioner at Shakespeare’s Globe, where he leads workshops at all levels. (KS2, KS3, GCSE, A-LEVEL, Undergraduates, Drama Teacher Training). He also delivers Lectures on the plays as well as Shakespeare’s Verse etc.

The approach is very much an active one. From sitting/standing in ‘the great Globe itself’ to working on the stage, the students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the world of Elizabethan/Jacobean playing conditions and how the architecture influences modes of playing. The students are encouraged to analyse the text from an actor’s point of view. Even the Lectures are participatory. This  active ‘3-dimensional’ method leads to students making surprising and insightful discoveries, that help in their academic learning.

Michael also works extensively with SEN and Excluded Students. The work is sometimes extremely transformative and revelatory for students (and sometimes their teachers and carers!) at all levels and abilities.

Michael also runs one to one coaching sessions on audition speeches, all things Shakespeare, as well as Business Presentation skills. These are also available online via Zoom or Skype.
